My Dress-up Mess-up (A French wedding story)
November 11, 2009 by lilitazz
This is a “funny-sad” and at the same time a “dress-up” story. Me and my class were to write about either halloween or any special event that they dressed up for. It’s just like halloween from “The Egypt Game” book.
It was any normal day – except for one thing. Me and my family had no food, drinks, clothes or gifts for my dad’s best friends wedding in France. It was only a couple of days to go, and we were stuck in the middle of Paris with nothing. Our plane had lost all of our luggage, you see.
The next day, my dad went to the airport to try and get our bags, but no luck. We went shopping in town square for food, drinks, clothes and more gifts for the wedding. We spent about 800 euro’s on it.
The wedding began.
We had succesfully got everything we needed! My dad was wearing a smart French-tailored suit that was creamy-coloured. My mum was wearing something very posh, but I do not remember exactly. My brother was wearing a blue shirt, like the daylight sky, and a pair of white-like-snow shorts.
I was nervous about the wedding. I had only seen my dads best friend once. At the time I was a baby. I was wearing a lusious, rosy-pink long-sleeved shirt, a brown dress over that the colour of mud, with little golden threads like gems, I had a pair of shiny black French pumps – they were as black as the night sky, and also they were as shiny as a black pearl, I had make-up on too, and that was the second timw in my life I wore mascara, and deep red-blood coloured lipstick.
The wedding went great and with a bit of an Algerian touch. There was dancing, singing and more!
After that we went to the hotel, and succesfully the next day got our luggage.
The airport paid us 800 euro’s for all of our troubles, and everything, and we went back to Qatar happy.
I was nervous, and we lost our luggage, and we were sad… But it all turned out perfect, and I just felt like a young lady wearing what I was wearing! And as the French say… “Ooooh, la la!”
And “Au revoir” !

Let me start by saying how impressed I am not only by the amount of blog posts you are writing, but also by the quality of each post. You have the writer’s bug I am afraid and will be haunted by the need to translate the world through text for the rest of your life. Fear not! This is a joyous process and with time you will enjoy it more and more. Welcome to the Club!
Having said that, what a great description you wrote here, “I was wearing a luscious, rosy-pink long-sleeved shirt, a brown dress over that the colour of mud, with little golden threads like gems, I had a pair of shiny black French pumps – they were as black as the night sky, and also they were as shiny as a black pearl,”
Keep up the good work, I will always look forward to reading your posts, because they are entertaining and a pleasure to read.
